Things No One Will Tell You About Bleeding
I finally saw an gynecologist who had some ideas about how to help me. Thanks to the rest of you gynos who have offered me nothing, but sad looks and soft murmurs.
My new gyno Betsy told me I was too young and having too many periods to actually be in perimenopause. I’m 49 and I feel very old so I enjoyed this compliment.
When I told her I wanted the periods to stop because they are so bloody I can’t teach without bleeding onto a surface, so painful I can’t walk, and so gassy no one will sit next to me including my cat, she didn’t just murmur and smile.
I said I needed some kind of hormone help but I can’t do the pill because it interferes with all of my psych meds, and my dear friend Amy told me that I should get an IUD and she said yes, and get this! the IUD has 1/8th of the hormones of the pill and it doesn’t get processed by your liver so it doesn’t compete with other meds and therefore doesn’t mess with your other medications.
Who fucking knew? I’ve been asking birth control questions my whole life and nobody ever told me this. THANKS AMERICA.
